Global warming is a diabolical problem facing humanity that needs to be dealt with without further delay, and on a war footing. The melting of the Arctic ice has served as an advance warning about the urgent need to find ways and means that should be considered regarding how to stop global warming. This is a matter that has occupied the minds of the best brains, and for those who are actually concerned about CO2 in the atmosphere, the need to come up with a solution about how to stop global warming should be a matter of top priority.

Six Billion More Trees Should Be Planted

When we set our minds on how to stop global warming we will realize that we need to stop cutting trees indiscriminately, and there is also a need to re-plant those trees that have been uprooted. In fact, according to some estimates, it is believed that we need as many as six billion more trees to combat global warming. And, it is really flirting with calamity when we deforest huge tracts of land as well as indulge in land clearing.

There are several examples of how chopping down trees has led to the disappearance of whole forests as witnessed in the Easter Island, in Bangladesh as well as Olympia Peninsula in Washington State. Also at risk are the rain forests in Africa as well as in the Amazon. The problem is that these trees take the CO2 and convert it into oxygen and a good way of solving the problem of how to stop global warming is to plant six to eight billion trees that would solve the problem of climate change as also greenhouse problems.

We should realize that by losing two acres per minute we are putting the ecological system under sever pressure, and with the available technology that we have at our disposal, it should be channeled into planting more trees rather than constructing cement and concrete monsters. If our concerns are genuine and we seriously want to have long term solutions for global warming, is it not time that we seriously devote our concerted efforts to realizing the best means of how to stop global warming?

It is time that we evolve major solutions regarding how to stop global warming that will help contain, prevent as well as put a stop to this dilemma. Conserving energy, forming organizations to combat global warming, keeping working hours to a bare minimum, recycling, using environmentally friendly fuels as well as vehicles, turning to solar, wind as well as water power to produce electricity, and insulating homes are some of the other useful and realistic means of coping with the problem of how to stop global warming.

There may be a few that doubt the seriousness of global warming, but the majority of the scientific community view it as a very real threat and are of the opinion that the causes of global warming are emissions of carbon dioxide as well as many other greenhouse gases that are the result of how we humans go about producing goods and services through our various industrial processes, burning of fossil fuels as well as through chopping down of forests.

More Than One Cause

One thing you can be sure of is that the number of causes of global warming is more than one, and one of these causes of global warming can be attributed to fossil fuel combustion that takes place when we generate power from our electricity generation plants. The main component of these emissions is coal that accounts for, it is believed, as mush as ninety-three percent of all emissions. In fact, the carbon emission from coal is believed to be 1.7 times that of natural gas and, it is believed 1.25 times that of oil.

One more cause of global warming is that carbon dioxide is expelled from our automobiles, minivans as well as other vehicles, and if these vehicles give off poor mileage you can be sure that there will be more CO2 being emitted into the atmosphere, which only contributes further to global warming.

You can also attribute another cause of global warming to carbon dioxide emitted from commercial trucks that, it is believed, contribute as much as thirteen percent of all carbon dioxide emissions in the United States. And, you can easily add airplane carbon dioxide emission to the list of causes of global warming, which accounts, according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change for, it is believed, 3.5 percent of all global warming, and it is expected that this will shoot up to about fifteen percent in the next four to five decades.

Besides, the carbon dioxide emitted by structure of buildings, another cause of global warming is methane, which is next in rank to carbon dioxide as a greenhouse gas. The worst part of methane is that it has the undesirable property of being twenty times more effective in trapping heat in our atmosphere, and another worrying aspect to this cause of global warming is that methane levels have risen by as much as, it is believed, one hundred forty-five times in the last century.

You can also add nitrous oxide to the list of causes of global warming and so too, is deforestation that is the second most important cause after carbon emissions in making the world warmer than it should be. You can also add city gridlocks, volume of carbon already present in the atmosphere to the growing list of causes of global warming. It certainly does not paint a rosy picture by any stretch of imagination.

Many people and their elected officials are taking positive steps against global warming so the world will be a better place for their children and grandchildren. There is a great deal of information on the effects of global warming, and the experts on the subject have provided positive steps that people can make against global warming. Scientists have studied the progress of global warming, and some of these scientists have come up with information on the problem to keep the public informed. Along with the information on the problem, these experts have also outlined the steps that people can take to work against global warming.

Global warming seems to be a problem, and the facts show that the temperatures are rising every year since the records were first kept sometime in the middle of the nineteenth century. The problem seems to be getting worse every year. Glaciers seem to be melting more rapidly, and the snow seems to be less every year. There also seems to be a rise in the level of the sea. This is particularly frightening because some of the populated land could one day become completely submerged. Many scientists now believe that these changes in the world are the result of human activity.

Many Groups Organize Measures Against Global Warming

Although there is much evidence that global warming is the result of human activity, this evidence is not completely accepted by all of the experts. The evidence does not have to be positive in order to take positive steps against global warming. There are many steps to take against global warming. First of all, people can work to reduce the use of fossil fuels including gasoline in their cars. People can join a carpool so they are not driving alone in their car. There are now fuel efficient cars that conserve on the fuel used to get any distance. More people should try to drive these cars that use less fuel. The companies that manufacture cars should concentrate on making cars that are more fuel efficient.

People can try to use alternative means to heat their water and their homes during the winter. Solar energy is from a renewable source of energy so people should try to use these alternatives if possible. People should try to recycle paper for these efforts could make a significant difference to the environment. People should try to make sure that their public servants in charge of the forests are replacing the trees that are taken from the forest.

Is global warming real? A lot of experts believe the global warming is real and that the Earth is heating up. According to reports, the temperature of the earth has been gradually increasing the beginning of the industrial revolution. Experts believe that the cause of the gradual heating of the Earth’s surface is due to the increase of the greenhouse gases in the planet. Although greenhouse gases are important to keep Earth warm, activities of human beings increased the production of greenhouse gases thus causing an imbalance in the Earth’s atmosphere.

The Greenhouse Effect

The increase in the greenhouse gases in the Earth’s atmosphere causes earth to heat up. For the last 140 years, the temperature of the surface of the Earth increased by 1 degree Fahrenheit. For most people, this increase does not really sound much at all and they keep asking is global warming real or are we just overreacting? A lot of experts are convinced that global warming is real and the effects of global warming can already be felt in the more violence weathers that we have lately.

According to experts, the earth’s atmosphere trapped gases such as methane from pollution, carbon dioxide and water vapor. The trapped gases in the atmosphere allow solar radiation to pass through it but prevent the solar radiation from escaping back into space. As a more solar radiation is trapped on Earth, heating of the surface of the Earth becomes inevitable.

Is global warming real? Yes of course it is real. There is really no question as to the fact that the earth’s atmosphere is heating up. The fact that the increase in the earth’s surface is only 1 degree Fahrenheit is something that must never be ignored or taken for granted. Note that the slightest increase in the temperature in the earth’s atmosphere already has some severe negative effects on the biodiversity of the planet.

According to studies, global warming is one of the primary reasons why corals are dying in some areas. The death of corals in some areas of the planet causes an imbalance in the environment and triggers a domino effect. Note that when corals die, the aquatic habitat is affected and our aquatic resources become depleted.

Aside from killing corals, global warming can cause the extinction of some forms of life in the planet. Studies show that there are certain types of plants and organisms that are very sensitive to heat that the slightest change in the temperature of the earth could them to die. If global warming is not arrested, there is a big possibility that life on earth would be altered and many types of species will vanish in the next several years.

Global warming is a term which is used to refer to the increase in the average temperature of the Earth’s surface, and it is an issue which has come into great debate and controversy, especially over recent years in particular. Although there are of course those critics who believe that the entire global warming concept is in fact a fraud, there is still the proof of global warming that remains, and of which is incredibly important to recognize and take into consideration in order to have an informed understanding of the matter overall.

The Various Proof of Global Warming

Over the years scientists have used many different means and methods in order to come up with proof of global warming, and in particular, powerful evidence for global warming was discovered by scientists funded by the United States’ government in the year 2004, as a new analysis of satellite data actually revealed that temperature in a critical part of the atmosphere are rising much faster than previously thought, thus resulting in strengthening the scientific consensus that the world is warming at an unnatural rate.

Basically, while it is generally accepted that surface temperatures of the Earth are increasing by an average of 0.17C per decade, satellites have been unable to detect a parallel trend in the troposphere, which is the lowest level of the atmosphere, extending 7.5 miles above the ground, in which most weather occurs.

More Proof of Global Warming

There are even more instances of proof of global warming, including a new report that was completed recently, which was based on an analysis of infrared long-wave radiation data from two different space missions. The unique satellite spectrometer data that was collected 27 years apart shows for the first time that real spectral differences have been observed, and that they can be attributed to changes in greenhouse gases over a long time period.

The Premise of Global Warming

Basically, as the sun’s radiation hits the Earth’s surface, it is reemitted as infrared radiation, and then this radiation is then partly trapped by the so-called greenhouse gases, which are: carbon dioxide, methane, and chlorofluorocarbons, as well as water vapor. Satellites are able to measure changes in the infrared radiation spectrum, and this ends up resulting in allowing scientists to be able to detect changes in the Earth’s natural greenhouse effect and also to be able to deduce which greenhouse gas concentrations have changed in general.

The more knowledge we wish to acquire about why the world’s temperature and climate is changing, the greater is the need to understand global warming facts. These global warming facts are leading to much controversy and are very important to us if we want to save our planet from the consequences of global warming. There is a greater need to investigate further since what we know about global warming today is indeed quite limited.

Huge Sections Of Arctic Ice Are Melting

It is seen that from studying global warming facts today, that there is an increase in temperatures that is seriously impacting the colder areas of the world such as the Arctic region, where ice from this part of the world that keeps our planet cool and which serves to act as our very own natural air conditioner is slowly melting away. It is these huge sections of sea ice that are rotated constantly and they give off cooling winds that come down to the lower regions on the earth and make our lives more bearable.

With ice packs melting due to global warming, the ability for it to cool our planet is diminished, which causes temperatures to raise more. This is an important global warming fact as it shows that ice is now melting and turning into water. In fact, according to these global warming facts it has been found that Arctic ice pack has gone down by almost nine percent each decade, since it is believed, the year 1978. With this trend continuing unabated, it is feared that at the turn of the century we will no longer have any Arctic ice.

Such frightening global warming facts should serve as a timely warning that we should consider how we emit gases and control our industrial production methods so that we can make the world safer as well as eco-friendly at the same time. The effect on animals such as the Polar Bear and others will be absolutely severe and most undesirable.

Laudable as the efforts of our scientists to constantly endeavor to unearth new global warming facts today are, there is need for concerted and immediate action to reverse these harmful effects; otherwise it may become too late not only for humans, but also for the animal world. There is need to educate humanity by disseminating global warming facts to everyone so that it enables us humans to act more responsibly and help prevent the life-threatening effects that can destroy our planet, and change the way we live.

Global warming and climate change is an issue which is of great debate and controversy in the world today, and which really everyone has heard at least something about. Global warming and climate change is a subject matter which includes an array of different issues, such as the effects of climate change, and insights into what governments, companies, international institutions, and other organizations are attempting to do about this issue, as well as the different challenges that they face.

Global Warming and Climate Change Introduction

The climate is changing drastically, regardless of what skeptics say, there is literal proof that goes to show that the Earth’s surface temperature has increased drastically, even in the past decade alone, as there is now overwhelming scientific consensus that global warming is in fact happening, and not only that but also that it is human-induced.

With global warming and climate change on the increase, and with species and their habitats on the decease, the chances for ecosystems to be able to adapt naturally are diminishing, and many are agreed on the fact that the issue of global warming and climate change just may be one of the greatest threats that is facing the planet.

The Impacts of Global Warming

It is believed that global warming will have incredible impact on the world overall, both on the environment and on society in general, as higher temperatures will cause a melting of ice in Greenland and Antarctica, and this will result in accelerating the rise of the sea level. As well, the speed at which global warming is expected to occur in the 21st century is faster than most plant and animal species will be able to cope with, thus resulting in causing many to become extinct, and quickly at that.

Global warming is also expected to affect human health, as there will most likely be more heart-related illnesses in hot summers, and increased breathing problems as higher temperatures increase air pollution in cities, thus reducing air quality greatly. Also, more extreme weather, for example storms, floods and droughts will have severe impacts on the environment and on society.

Preparing

Preparation is obviously the best idea, especially considering that if global warming is going to occur there is really nothing that anyone can do about it. However we can at least hold it off, by taking more care and consideration with the environment, for instance recycling and not polluting the air as much.

There are many facts about global warming which are discussed and debated among the “experts”. Most scientists can agree on general evidence supporting the basic facts about global warming, but as some argue that these changes have come about due human causes, some argue that this is a natural course of the earth’s evolution.

Some Basic Evidence

There are some facts about global warming that can be measured. This evidence includes the fact that the level of carbon dioxide and methane in the earth’s atmosphere has increased to the highest point in six hundred fifty thousand years. Another fact about global warming is the increased rate of glaciers and sea ice melting. Warming that is bleaching coral is causing destruction of our oceans and tropical diseases are spreading at faster rates.

Greenhouse Gases

Among the facts about global warming is the cause of the warming. Greenhouse gases cover the atmosphere and trap the sun’s heat. Carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide are emissions that cause greenhouse gases. Burning fossil fuels is a fact about global warming that is the cause of most carbon dioxide emissions. We burn fossil fuels when we drive our cars and generate electricity in power plants. Reducing these emissions is the most important reason everyone needs to know the facts about global warming.

Research And Education

Everyone should research and the facts about global warming for themselves. Use the Internet for research and try to start conversations at home and at work. The more we are all aware of the facts about global warming the better prepared we can be to make better choices for our energy needs.

We Can All Help

We can all help reduced the pollutants released everyday by changing our transportation choices, changing our light bulbs, use renewable energy sources and conserving paper products.

Automobiles cause twenty percent of United States carbon dioxide emissions. The United States is the world’s larges consumer of oil. We could reduce our dependence on oil by carpooling, using public transportation, building bike paths and just driving less.

Using alternate renewable sources of energy would reduce the need for traditional coal burning power plants. Renewable sources of energy include wind and solar power. After converting this power to electricity it could then be used to power our transportation, such as cars and buses, also.

Another thing we can all do is vote for government representatives who will promote clean renewable energy alternatives.

There is evidence of global warming around the world, and this evidence of global warming makes many people worry about the future. This important subject is debated and discussed more and more by everyone . Some of the discussion on the evidence of global warming takes place in casual conversation around dinner tables, while other discussions about the evidence of global warming take place in formal conferences with delegates from many different places around the world or on radio and television programs.

The Evidence

Evidence of global warming comes from historical records of weather patterns from around the world. There is some evidence that the current temperatures are the highest in four hundred years. The evidence of global warming as indicated by the rise in temperatures has increased the interest in global warming and the steps necessary to reverse the bad effects of global warming.

Some of the evidence of global warming is startling. Most people have seen the dramatic pictures of the glaciers in Alaska. And the melting of glaciers and sea ice is increasing every day. As the melting increases, the warming of the oceans is causing coral bleaching and deterioration. Tropical diseases are spreading at increased rates also.

Scientists continue to look at the evidence that is available about global warming. These knowledgeable people have looked at the core atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide. The data that the scientists have collected shows the highest levels of carbon dioxide and methane in six hundred fifty thousand years

What Can We Do?

It is a fact that the United Sates is the largest consumer of oil in the world. Twenty percent of United States emissions come from automobiles. Ninety three percent of power plants in the United States burn coal to produce electricity.

Everyone can make changes in their lives each day to decrease their usage of “dirty” energy. Carpooling, taking the bus , working from home and driving fuel-efficient cars is ways to cut carbon dioxide emissions. Using compact fluorescent light bulbs, home insulation and using alternative energy sources, such as wind or sun, can reduce the need to produce electricity utilizing coal burning power plants.

Just as importantly, we need to elect government representatives that will work to lead the way in greenhouse gas emission reduction and eventual elimination. The evidence of global warming is overwhelming and we can only hope we still have enough time to save our planet.

Much discussion and arguments have been made on the issue of global warming for the past few years. Many experts who have been conducting global warming research for the past several years warn people that the earth is heating up. According to these scientists who have been doing global warming research, the effects of global warming can be quite devastating to humans and other forms of life on the planet. Note that negative changes in the environment will endanger different types of species. It is not uncommon for some types of life form to die out with the changes in the composition of the environment.

Results of global warming research showed that this phenomenon had caused some severe damaged in the environment. For instance, dry spells in some parts of the globe had caused some severe forest fires that destroyed hundreds of acres of forests. As consequence of these forest fires, the biodiversity in the area is severely affected. Aside from forest fires, extreme heat caused the water table in some areas to retreat. Living in the upland areas are the most affected by the depletion of the ground water.

The Other Side Of The Issue

Although there are many scientists who believe that global warming can cause a lot of disturbances in the planet, there are also a lot of scientists who are conducting global warming research that claim that the increase in the temperature of the surface of the earth in negligible and this could not really cause much damage to your environment. According to these scientists that are conducting global warming research, the earth normally warms up after a specific length of time and this process is essential to the evolution of life. According to them, the heating process of the planet is but a normal phenomenon and is therefore harmless. They believe that people are just overly reacting to the issue of global warming and that there is really no immediate threat to the environment due to global warming.

Who Is Telling The Truth?

The varying opinions of scientists on the issue of global warming can be quite confusing at times. If you are one of those people who have not really made up your mind about the impact of global warming to our environment, it would be a good idea to take a precautionary approach to the issue. If you are not sure about something, it is better to approach the issue cautiously and work on preventing the further heating up of the planet. Note that it is a lot better to be safe than sorry.

The Great Global Warming Swindle is available to those interested in viewing the film on DVDs, which means you can also see it in expanded as well as improved form than what was broadcast in the United Kingdom on Channel Four. Changes have been made to The Great Global Warming Swindle and there are many more interviews and the range of subjects covered too has been expanded, which makes for more interesting material as compared to the broadcast version.

Know About The Case Of Human Invented Global Warming

If you are one of the many that want to know more about what the case against the humanly created bogey of global warming is in more detail, then buying the DVD version of The Great Global Warming Swindle may be a better option. The general reaction to the film has been positive with many expressing their support as well as encouragement that are leading the makers of The Great Global Warming Swindle to explore and make new studies in different areas other than just global warming.

Even though the response to The Great Global Warming Swindle has been nothing short of overwhelming, it would be wrong to adduce the popularity and concern expressed regarding global warming to just this film, as it had been the subject of much interest even before The Great Global Warming Swindle was introduced to the public at large.

You can be sure that the concerted coverage given to all matters related to global warming on TV, radio as well as in the printed media was already fawning huge interest in the subject much before people were introduced to The Great Global Warming Swindle. In countries like the United Kingdom, there had already been many hours devoted to programmes concerning global warming by its famous BBC though some of the material offered for public consumption was nothing short of ludicrous.

The film The Great Global Warming Swindle made a decent attempt to suggest some possible answers to global warming, which should hopefully answer the questions raised by man-made global warming as well as reveal the relationship between science, politicians as well as the media and of course, the public at large. It may in fact end up showing that man-made global warming was a good example of how the modern Western world had to use science, which in turn may have been betrayed by its own scientists for the most part.

It seems as though one cannot turn on the TV without seeing something about global warming and the dire straits the planet will soon be faced with. Most of the world believes that global warming is going to bring on death and destruction, leaving the planet as a hostile environment that most people will not be able to survive. Whether this is true or not can be left for people decide at another time.

There are some things that can be done to help the planet no matter how one feels about global warming. The global warming solutions that can be done without much effort is for people to try to use less energy. A person should try using less electricity from the grid and consider using solar energy. This helps the planet and the wallet. Once paid for, solar power is free and that leaves more money in the budget for other things.

Something else that can be done as a global warming solution is to drive ones vehicle less. Automobile’s pollute the air and are a major source of greenhouse gasses. People should try taking public transportation or car pooling with other people. Trading in the older gas guzzling model and looking for something that gets better fuel mileage is a good idea, too. There are hybrids that retain much of their power but still get great mileage.

More Global Warming Solutions

Anything that a person can do that reduces any form of energy is healthy for the planet. This even includes water. Many people don’t think about water as a global warming solution but it is without a doubt a contributing factor in global warming. The water itself isn’t the problem. The problem is in everything it takes to get modern water supplies to each and every home.

Dams are built to provide the water supply and while many dams also are used for electricity, the land downstream may never fully recover from the way it was. People buy boats to play on the water which pollutes the water and the air. Most boat motors release a large amount of pollutants into the air. The water must also be cleaned because of pollution and all of that uses energy. New homes are built around the new lake which creates a larger demand for energy.

The list goes on when it comes to ways people can help with global warming solutions. Many of the problems deal with waste of resources and people need to be better educated about these wasteful practices. Together people can change the world for a better tomorrow, a better tomorrow for generations to come.

There are two sides to the growing global warming debate, with very little room in the middle of the argument. The scientific community on one side of the aisle warns of the consequences of continuing with policies and practices that offer little or no change in behavior, while the other side claims it is a dire prediction offered by Chicken Little and the sky is not really falling.

Environmentalists and many in the scientific community care championing the need for how industrialized nations reduce the amount of carbon dioxide being released into the Earth’s atmosphere. It is this carbon dioxide that is warming the atmosphere, according to those on the environment side of the global warming debate, while three of the top industrial countries have not signed on to the theory. The United States, China and India continue to resist the need for more reductions, at an unknown financial cost, which they claim cannot be proven to end the climate change.

Adding to the debate are charges of flawed scientific statements that those in disagreement are purposely exaggerated to push the agenda of certain environmental groups. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has been supporting the so-called “butterfly effect” to show the need for drastic reductions in carbon dioxide emissions, while scientists and climatologists counter claim that the size of the theoretical effect on globe’s environment is too small to be included in the global warming debate.

Flying Butterfly Alters Course Of Tornado

By citing the “butterfly effect” some scientists theorize that the beating wings of a butterfly in Asia could alter the course and strength of a tornado in Kansas, a claim many climatologists scoff at, pointing out the proponents in the global warming debate use this as a scare tactic. Their claim is that the sheer size of the Earth’s atmosphere and the strength needed to manipulate any condition is far beyond the breeze created by butterfly wings.

Others in the global warming debate point out that predictors of world-ending results of continuing to ignore global warming are having the opposite effect of bringing attention to the global warming debate, in that some see them as alarmists, presenting only the data to support their opinion and not looking at any opposing view.

On the other hand, those supporting the need to reduce global warming say the industries do not accept their information in the global warming debate due to the cost of removing carbon dioxide emissions from factories and most other sources. They claim industrialized nations are more interested in saving money than saving the planet.

A lot of people think that stopping global warming is the work of scientists, governments and weather experts. Most of those people are so absorbed in the thought that they are powerless to stop global warning and that they cannot do anything but wait and see what will happen in the next few years. If you are one of those people who are thinking that there is nothing you can do about the effects of global warming, think again.

According to experts, everyone can help prevent global warming. You don’t even have to join those anti global warming campaigns if you are comfortable about the thought of lobbying for laws and regulations concerning global warming. Note that you can always get involved in the anti global warming movement by simply doing some simple things to help clean the environment.

Initiating Your Own Anti Global Warming Activities

If you are one of those people who cannot be bothered to join any anti global warming campaigns and protest actions, you can always initiate your own anti global warming activities right in your own home. You can start your own anti global warming activities by using lesser amount of power in your daily activities. For instance, instead of riding your car, you can commute to work, ride a bicycle or walk if you live near the workplace.

Note that your car emits carbon dioxide that can help enhance global warming, if you do not use your car often, you will be able to help reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. On the other hand, if your office happens to be on the upper floors of the building, try not to use the elevator as much as you can. By using less electricity, you are able to help prevent global warming.

At home, you can continue your anti global warming campaign by not using many electronic devices. For instance, when preparing food in the kitchen, use the knife instead of using the food processor. On the other hand, instead of watching TV, you can spend your leisure time reading some good books and magazines.

Not only will you be able to save a lot of energy by reading books and magazines instead of watching TV, you also enhance your knowledge about a lot of things. According to experts, if people start to limit their power use at home and the office, the demand for energy around the world will considerably lesser. With lesser demand for power, power plants will burn less amount of fuel thus reducing the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

Scientists and researchers have begun to pay more attention to the waters of the ocean and how global warming effects the ocean. Ocean temperatures have been rising as far back as 1940, causing an increase in the strength of hurricanes and tsunamis.

There are many skeptics who do not agree about how global warming effects the ocean, but they all can agree there is an increase of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere as well as the oceans. These is also little doubt as to what has caused the increase in carbon dioxide, which is our dependency on fossil fuels.

The oceans help control the amount of carbon dioxide released in the air by absorbing it into the ocean’s salty waters. This in turn helps to control the amount of global warming in the earth’s atmosphere. The problem is the carbon dioxide also changes the oceanic waters, causing them to have a higher level of acid. This could possibly have an effect on any type of life which is found in the ocean.

Carbon Dioxide And How Global Warming Effects The Ocean

Carbon dioxide is a gas that helps hold in the heat which is on the earth. It is a necessary process in order to keep the earth warm enough to sustain life. Excess amounts of carbon dioxide cause increased heat. There are many elements that come into play to produce carbon dioxide. Our dependence on gasoline is a major factor in the increase of carbon dioxide. We are now producing carbon dioxide at much greater levels and there are not enough natural elements to control it.

How global warming effects the ocean depends on how fast we put carbon dioxide in the air. The ocean absorbs as much as a third of the carbon dioxide which we generate. There is some question how long this can continue. With more and more carbon dioxide in the air the oceans of the world will not be able to handle it.

When trying to determine how global warming effects the ocean you have to consider the fact that the increase of carbon dioxide in the water has increased the acidity of the water as well as the water level. You also have to consider what the acid does to oceanic plant life and marine life. Some studies show the acid reduces the plankton in the ocean which is critical to some forms of sea life. If the current trend continues there is fear that some species of marine life will become extinct. There is also speculation that the higher acidity will in some way damage other marine life and the food chain it needs to survive. Global warming is a serious problem that needs to be addressed and dealt with now so that our children will have a safer world to raise their children in.

The greenhouse effect is constantly making the news and warning after warning is ringing our ears that keep emphasizing how it is to be blamed for global warming. If Hurricane Katrina and other strong hurricanes were not hurting us so bad, and sounding the warning of what could happen if we don’t do something about global warming, we would have maybe not given the effects of global warming a second thought and consigned them to yet another scientific myth.

Nothing New, You May Argue

You might argue that the greenhouse effect has been with mankind for more than four billion years and there has not been anything to worry about this far. The trouble is that the recent effects of global warming are a bit different because some of the activities that we humans are pursuing as well as certain practices are changing this as yet benign change in climatic conditions.

We have certainly been experiencing the effects of global warming for the past few years most noticeably in changes to climatic conditions. The circulation of the oceans is changing, the planet’s orbit is affected and there is also a change in the sun’s intensity. This is reason to consider what the ill-effects of global warming are, and do something serious to prevent, alleviate as well as reduce its adverse effects on humankind. There have been drastic changes to the globe and dire consequences will not spare humans as well as the millions of other species that are dependent on the earth for their very survival.

With glaciers melting and causing the sea levels to rise, we can see the perfect example of the effects of global warming in the rising sea levels. Though we cannot readily see or perceive these effects of global warming, they are still serious and may cause more land to go under the waters of the seas if we are not careful. This can be seen in the example when just a 0.3 meter rise in sea level will cause the swallowing up of fifteen meters of a beach. It certainly is reason to sit up and take notice before it gets too late.

Other effects of global warming are felt in the effect it has on agricultural practices that are dependent wholly on glaciers melting in a regular manner. There are a number of countries in the world that depend on melting of snows from mountains for irrigation of their plants and in generating electricity. If the melting occurs in periods of bad times, it would throw out of gear the planting as well as harvesting periods thus endangering the economy of these countries on both local as well as national levels.

Thus, we need to face the problem of global warming head-on if we want to escape the bad effects of global warming and survive for long on the planet.

Global warming refers to the phenomena of an observed rise in the average temperature of the air that is close to the surface of the Earth and its oceans that has been observed in recent times and which will continue in this manner in the foreseeable future. There is enough evidence that points to an increase in temperatures of the Earth and its near-surface air that has occurred in present times. This has also caused the snow cover to come down as well as ice covers melting along with a rise in sea levels.

Extreme Of Temperatures Where Such Extremes Are Not Normal

Global warming has also caused there to be extremes of temperature in places that are not known to have extreme temperatures, and there ahs been precipitation and the cloud cover has also been adversely affected. Some of the reasons why the Earth is experiencing global warming are natural such as the levels of CO2, which because of human activities over the past five decades, has seen a significant rise along with other household gases.

The amount of CO2 in the atmosphere along with greenhouse gases is making the Earth’s surface heat up, which is not good for mankind. In fact, the average surface temperature of the Earth has risen by about one degree Fahrenheit over the past ten decades. This has led to a decrease in snow cover as well as ice extent and there has also been a ten to twenty centimeter rise in sea levels in the same period.

There are also areas of concern where global warming has failed to affect the climate on the Earth such as the oceans of the Southern Hemisphere as well as some parts of the Antarctica, which have not really warmed up in recent times. There have also not been any real trends in the Antarctic sea-ice trends, and nor have we witnessed any real trends of global change in the tropical as well as extra-tropical regions as far as intensity of storms and their frequency is concerned. Also, one has not noticed any systematic change in tornado frequencies, thunder days as well as hail events.

In spite of these other factors, global warming poses a very real danger to mankind and is not something that can be dismissed as a scare tactic by certain people. Once one learns about global warming, it should help us learn what it is and what can be done to help prevent and reduce its damning effects for the better of all who inhabit the earth as well as for future generations.
